For your 2016 Ford Expedition, I recommend adding the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part # 90195, the Tekonsha Ford Wiring Harness, part # 22292, plus the 7-way Upgrade Kit, part # ETBC7 to install a 7-way kit onto your vehicle.
The # ETBC7 will install using the factory 4-way and then connect into the existing wiring. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 will then use an adapter cable included in its kit to plug into the port in the front of your vehicle, completing the system.
I've included a link to a video of the ETBC7 installation on a 2004 Ford Expedition. They talk briefly about additional relays, however it looks like the 2016 Expedition doesn't require these additional fuses. I recommend verifying this with your owner's manual prior to install.
Finally, I've added an installation of the Tekonsha P3 on a 2008 Ford Expedition, so you can get familiar with its process. Because of the existence of a factory port, the install is a snap and the primary difficulty is mounting the kit where you want it.
