Recommendation For 10 Inch Drop Ball Mount For Towing Dolly And Bike Rack For RV

Question:

HI, I am towing a dolly behind my RV. I need about a 10 inch so am considering the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts - AMSC10. I would also like to add a bike rack to this configuration so I am considering the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks - S64664. Do you think this configuration will work and is it the best combination for what I am trying to attempt? Thank you.

The Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount With 10 inch Drop, Item # AMSC10, should work well for you. It has an overall shank length of 15-1/2 inches. A key measurement for your project will also be from center of hitch pin hole to nearest part of the drop which is approximately 4-1/4 inches (see picture). This amount can vary slightly depending on the welds.

I called the manufacturer and the Swagman Traveler Rack, Item # S64664, might work with the Convert-A-Ball Mount but you must have at least 3-1/2 inches of spacing between the receiver and the rack. They also stressed the importance of plenty of clearance between all the components.

Another option I recommend is a 2 bike rack that mounts to the RV ladder like the Surco 2 Bike Carrier, Item # SP501BR. It has cushioned, rubber cradles and flexible straps to keep bikes in place. It has a maximum capacity of 75-lbs or 37-lbs per bike. It is made in the USA.

Locks are not included so if you want to securely lock your bikes, I recommend the 10 foot long Cable Lock, Item # e98891.

I have attached additional information and a video for you to check out.
