Bike Rack Rated for Use on a RV

Question:

We have a short 28 foot long motorcoach that has a rear basement compartment with a swing door. We dont want to have to remove the bikes every time we need access to the basement. This coach is shorter than most but rear bounce still might be an issue. We do not tow a car. We need to accommodate 2 bikes, each 30 pounds or under. Can you recommend the tilting Chinook 2 for this application?

While there are a number of bike racks that are rated for use behind an RV the Swagman Chinook # S64683 is not one of them. Unfortunately there is not going to be a rack that is both rated for use behind an RV and has a tilting feature. The reason for this is the amount of movement and bounce that a rack has to when on an RV is greatly increased and stability is necessary.

Your best option will be the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR which is rated for use behind an RV and has an upright mast that will fold down though you will still need to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. The Dispatch fits 2" hitches, has a weight capacity of 45 lbs per bike and the closest part of the rack is going to be 12" from the center of your hitch pin hole.

I've added a pair of links to video reviews on this rack for you to take a look at.
