Which Trailer Hitch Receiver Will Have the Most Ground Clearance For 2011 Subaru Outback

Question:

I have a 2011 Outback and I am looking to purchase a hittch for this vehicle. I would like to know which of the hitches that you offer would provide the most hitch ground clearance when installed. Thank you.

Each hitch is positioned to sit tucked up and close to the bumper as you can see on the product page pictures. All of the hitch receivers available for the 2011 Subaru Outback will sit in the same general position with ground clearance varying slightly from each hitch.

For example, from the ground to the top of the receiver on the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75673, measures 14-1/2 inches. So you would have approximately 12-1/2 inches from the ground to the bottom of the receiver, as it is a 2 inch receiver.

With the Curt Hitch # 13390, from the ground to the top of the receiver measures 14-1/8 inches which would give you slightly less ground clearance than the Hidden Hitch.

With a 1-1/4 inch hitch like the Draw-Tite # 36493, there will be slightly more ground clearance but you will have reduced weight capacity.

I would recommend going with a Class III, 2 inch receiver like the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75673. This is the highest capacity hitch available for your vehicle and with a 2 inch receiver there is a wider range of bike racks and other accessories that you will be able to use.

I have linked an FAQ on trailer hitch installation and an FAQ on towing components.
