Are Additional Relays Still Needed to Install Trailer Brake Controller on 2016 VW Touareg

We have a 2016 VW Touareg TDI. We are installing the Prodigy P2 brake controller. Does the old tech bulletin still apply? regarding installing additional relay. We viewed your installation video on etrailer.com and saw no mention of the relay. Thank you

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha regarding installing the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 on your 2016 VW Touareg TDI. He stated that while the original reason for the tech bulletin (to prevent erratic display on the controller) has since been resolved, they still highly recommend that the added relays be obtained and installed. They will act as an additional safety measure to protect the vehicle's delicate wiring in case of a short or backfeed from the controller.
The relays, which can be obtained from a local authorized VW dealer, will be part number 1J0-972-782 (qty. 1) and part 000-979-228 (qty 2). I have attached the tech bulletin in question as well that you can look over.
