For your 1998 Honda CR-V, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13314 which is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. It has a measurement of 6-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the spare tire.
That will make the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches # SR2415 compatible with its measurement from the center of the pin to the upright mast being 9-1/2 inches. I've attached some videos to assist.
There are a couple of accessories that I recommend for security and travel. For locks, I recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for SportRack Bike Racks # SR0901 and cable lock # e98891. Then for any step through frames, I recommend the adapter bar # 64005 to create a top rail for level transport and ground clearance.
