Comparing Roadmaster Base Plates for 2007 Hummer H2 and Recommended Flat Towing System Components

Question:

Thanks for the answer. I have used the hummer to pull before but took everything off and sold it. Now I am wanting to tow again, I don't mind the arms staying in all the time. Don't need quick disconnect. Just need the arms. Please recommend

The Roadmaster MS Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms # 2503-1 does not have the removable connections like the # 2506-1 or even the # 2506-3. The removable option gives you a cleaner look when not connected, but the connection will be similar. The # 2506-1 style of arms is compatible with Quick Disconnects and all Roadmaster tow bars, where the other options are not able to use the Quick Disconnects and are not compatible with coupler style tow bars. This compatibility is the only reason why you'd need a backing plate.

All of these Base Plates are compatible with your 2007 Hummer H2. If you'd like recommendations for your complete flat towing system let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Having previously used the hummer to pull, do I need just the arms or the whole kit? Please tell me which you would buy. thank you

If it were me, I would go with the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 2506-3. I'd get the kit to make sure things were completely compatible and use # LT37420 for installation. For the rest of the system if you don't already have the components, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 which you won't use the crossbar for and it will have a cleaner look. You'll want safety cables like # RM-643 for this as well. For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster wiring kit # RM-15267. This gives you a clean look with a 6-way connector and utilizes your vehicle wiring while protecting it. For your braking system, I'd go with the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This is a very nice system that will allow plug and play use after the initial adjustment at install. The # RM-88400 relay is required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn. Finally, you will need a high-low adapter for proper towing. I've attached a link to your options and also to an article to assist in choosing the correct fit. Let me know if you have further questions.

Since you don't need the quick connect and the removable arms aren't a deal breaker. My recommendation is the Roadmaster MS Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms # 2503-1 to give you the function you need and save you a little money as well. These baseplates will work very well for you.
