Friction Sway Control Recommendation for Jeep Wrangler Towing Enclosed Trailer

Question:

Hi ! I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2dr, and I am purchasing a 6x10 enclosed trailer 1000 lbs dry weight with a 100 lb hitch weight. I am carrying about 300 lbs of gear in the trailer. I want to put anti sway/weight distribution on the hitch... everything I am seeing is for much heavier applications and I dont know what to get. I am going on an extensive road trip with highway driving and some light off road towing. I want to be able to reverse into a campsite without having to exit the vehicle and disconnect/reconnect anything repeatedly. Is there a way to have anti sway that I can reverse with? Is there a weight distribution system for such a light duty application? is it possible to have both with some ease of use as I am traveling alone and do not have anyone to hook/unhook while I maneuver the vehicle back and forth when parking/hitching. Thanks for your input, I appreciate your help.

Realistically you're going to have a tongue weight of probably 130 lbs or so. A weight distribution system isn't really going to be effective for that light of a trailer but a friction sway control unit like part # 83660 would help with any crosswinds or getting passed by a semi-truck.

You can back up with this installed, but if you have to jackknife the trailer in a tight turn you'll want to disconnect it.
