Rating of Axles on 2008 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback 33LBHTS 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2008 cedar creek silverback 33lbhts. I recently purchased this fifth wheel camper and seen that the center axle bracket the one for the trunion was bent inward. I thought I’d unbolt it and straighten it. Well that didn’t work. I did straighten it but it appears that maybe the axles May have been replaced with ones that were too narrow? I was wondering if you guys had the dimensions spring saddle to spring saddle and hub face to hub face. Also the price and details of new axles. I believe the gcwr of the camper is around 13,500. The axles that are on it are 6 luv dexters I believe

The 2008 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback 33LBHTS has a specified GVWR of 13,830-lbs. Since it is a tandem-axle trailer this means it is likely to have a pair of 7K-rated axles (it should, anyway!). The stock tire size specified is LT235/85R16E.

We do offer beam axles but not ones rated as high as 7K. This is due to shipping size/weight restrictions. Typically a 7K axle has a hub face dimension of 89-inches and a spring center spacing of 74-inches.

You can contact Forest River with your trailer's VIN to confirm the appropriate axles; you may also be able to find the sticker or plates on the axles themselves that indicate their capacity. A local trailer shop will be able to order new axles for you. You'll want to confirm the bearings used in your hubs to ensure the new axles have the same spindles as the original; this will ensure the hubs fit well on the new axle's spindles.
