Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount for a 2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 with a 2 Hitch Receiver
Question:
I have a 2014 Ram Promaster and am looking at getting the Draw-Title Max-Frame Trailer Hitch. What adjustable ball mount would you recommend? I will be towing a car sometimes and a trailer other times.

Choosing an adjustable ball mount is a great idea for when you have multiple towing applications. Since the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75882 for your 2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 (non-EXT model) has a 2" hitch receiver you will (obviously) need to choose one that is compatible with a 2 inch hitch receiver.
Ultimately you will need to choose a ball mount that is able to keep your trailer level. To determine what height you need you will need to measure (on level ground) from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver and then again from the ground to the bottom of your trailer coupler. If your coupler is higher you will need a ball mount with a rise but if the receiver is higher you will be more interested in the drop. I have attached a picture taken from our ball mount article (which is linked) to give you a visual of this process.
Once you know what you need you can filter through our selection of adjustable ball mounts that fit a 2 inch hitch receiver. Once of my favorite options is the Fastway Self-Locking, Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w Chrome Balls # DTALBM6600. It is made of solid aluminum, has 2 chrome-plated hitch balls (2" and 2-5/16" diameters), and comes with built-in locks that cannot be picked. A review video has been attached for you to check out as well.
If you don't have a way to tow your vehicle your could use the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501 with a Roadmaster base plate kit. Just let me know the year/make/model of the vehicle you will be towing and I can make a recommendation for a kit compatible with the StowMaster.
