Mounting the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk on Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 20foot aluminum boat with trailer. The trailer I use for the boat is 20 years old and consists of two, 3 foot bunkers mid-front, and two, 36 inch bunkers in the back. Could I buy four of these bunk rollers, screw them with lag bolts to the top of the existing 2 inch X 6 inch bunk boards? If so, do I need to take the carpet off first? Thanks for any advice. If they work Im going to order four of them. Dutton-Lainson 5 boat trailer bunk rollers, 3000 lb capacity

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 is designed to attach directly to 2 x 4 bunk boards so it will may work for your set-up, but I recommend instead to mount the roller bunks with the Roller Bunk Bracket # DL21742 and U-Bolts # CE15283GA. This will give you roller bunks that are certain to work; you can see the simplicity of how this set up will work in the accompanying photo. I've also attached links to video reviews of these parts for you to take a look at.
