Locking Hitch Pin for a Sport Rack Swing-Away Rack with a Carbon Fiber Bike
Question:
Hello, will SR2415 fit on my 2012 Ford Explorer equipped with Draw-Tite 76034? And will Sport Rack A32022 Pin and Cable Lock compatible with SR2415? Id like to have one key solution to lock and secure the bike rack and the bikes. In some questions its said that SR2415 and A32022 are not fully compatible, but other expert Chris R mentioned on the same QandA section answering similar question that both are fully compatible. Can you please clarify? Is SR2415 safe to carry carbon material frame road bike?

For your 2012 Ford Explorer, the Sport Rack Swing Away 4 Bike Rack, part # SR2415 will be compatible.
To lock the rack, you'll need to use part # SR0901 to add a locking anti-rattle hitch pin to the vehicle.
At this time, there's not a keyed alike locking mechanism with the rack that will match your cable lock. Part # AR32022 has a hitch pin that is not compatible with the rack and is simply too thin for the rack, so we don't recommend purchasing the kit. Instead, you'll be much happier with any other independent cable lock like part # e98891 to lock all of the bikes together or directly to the hitch. Keep in mind that if you lock to the hitch, you'll have to unlock the bikes before using the swing-away feature.
For a carbon frame road bike, you'll be much happier with a wheel mounted solution instead of a hanging rack.
Carbon frame bikes are substantially more sensitive than regular aluminum or steel framed bikes, and can have their frames damaged by the jostling that occurs during transit.
Instead, I recommend a wheel mounted platform rack, which will protect the carbon fiber bike's frame.
The Swagman Semi, part # S64698-99 is a great pick for a wheel mounted rack. This rack includes integrated hitch and bike locks, a high capacity of 45 pounds per-bike and is able to hold wheel bases of up to 51 inches. It also is able to fold up against the vehicle, or tilt away from the vehicle for cargo access.
I've included video reviews of all of these parts so you can get a better idea of their features and how they perform.
