Can Same Size But Different Type Of Tires Be Used Together On Single Axle
Question:
Can I mix a ST225/75R15 with a ST225/75D15 on a single axle 12 ft enclosed utility trailer?

While both tires are special trailer tires that are the same size, they are constructed differently and so it would be best to not use them together.
The ST225/75R15, like Item # AM10256, is a radial tire that is better suited for traction, stability, and overall longer tread life. It also runs cooler than the ST225/75D15, like Item # AM1ST96. The ST225/75D15 you mention is a bias tire that has a stiffer sidewall, will ride a little rougher, and is better suited for off road applications like farm use. Both are good tires but they are not meant to work together and your ride will be rougher and not as safe.
I recommend choosing to go all radial or all bias for a better, smoother, and safer ride. It is also best to replace tires with the same type at the same time.
