Replacement Wheel and Tire for Motorcycle Cargo Trailer with 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern

Question:

My motorcycle cargo trailer currently uses class b 4.80 -8 tires with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. Can I change to a class c 12 in tire with the same bolt pattern as the tires seems to wear quickly probably due to trailer weight?

When you look at the trailer weight, you will want to make sure you account for the weakest part of the system as that will be your max capacity. If your tires are the lowest rated for load capacity, then you can upgrade the tires. It is not likely that you will be able to jump to 12 inch wheels as that is a really large jump which would take your overall wheel diameter from the 16.1 inches to about 22 inches. That isn't including the the 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 inches you will need above the tire for the suspension movement without your tires making contact with the trailer.

If you do have that room, then I recommend the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # AM30620. If you do not have that clearance, then I recommend the Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # AM30040 to stay with the current size and up the capacity rating. If you have some clearance you could go with 10 inch # AM3H370 which have an outer diameter of 20.5 inches.

Often tire wear has less to do with capacity and more to do with speed or improper inflation. It is important to keep tires inflated to the max psi when tires are cold and adhere to the speed ratings.
I've attached some videos and articles to assist.
