Brake Controller and Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2009 Subaru Tribeca

Question:

I have a 2009 Subaru Tribeca with additional Trans oil cooler and 4 plug harness. I recently purchased from e trailer a Tekonsha Primus #90160 and installation kit ETBC7 which Ive not yet installed as it looks to be somewhat of a challenge to access hard wiring through firewall and to area just above brake pedal, if you have step by step instruction for actual install of 2009 that may help...that said I was considering returning #90160 and purchasing your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 if it is suitable for my application...my concern is that on your website it makes claim that that unit is not confirmed for use on 2009 Subaru Tribeca...Im hopeful you can advise me properly. Ill also looking to purchase a weight distribution system w/ sway control 300-400 that allows backing up. Im a bit in a hurry as weve planned to be traveling in about 2 weeks, needless to say if I dont get this done soon my wife will either divorce me or kill me...maybe both..HELP ! :- Thank you for your time an expertise

The closest vehicle to your 2009 Subaru Tribeca we have an install video for is a 2010 Subaru Outback. The process will be very similar so using that video as a guide will help you through the install.

The P2 part # 90885 is better than the Primus in a lot of ways. It can mount in several different orientations and has a much more advanced way of sensing deceleration so it will give you better overall braking performance.

There are hitches available for your 2009 Subaru Tribeca that are designed to work with weight distribution systems like the Curt part # C13046 so it would basically be a matter of picking out the correct kit based on your 300 lb tongue weight. The best option is the Strait Line part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-400 lbs and features the only sway control available designed to fight sway before it starts.
