How to Bypass Factory Brake Controller of 2006 Ford F-350

Question:

OK, do you have a recommendation for the aftermarket controller for a 2006 Ford F-350 turbo-diesel? to bypass it.

The fault message is pretty vague so it's hard to give a specific area where the problem may be, but first place to check is the grounds of the trailer wiring. You also might just have a dirty trailer wiring connector that needs to be cleaned to allow the contact to be made better. We see that quite a bit. Taking sandpaper to the pins of the trailer connector usually clears that right up.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885 and # 3065-P, will come with the Ford Super Duty adapter that will plug into the back of the Prodigy P2 brake controller and the other end plugs into your factory brake controller plug. This brake controller will hook up to your 2010 Ford F350 and bypass the factory controller. The Ford factory brake controller that is in the dash does not have to be removed. You will need to unplug the connector under the dash and plug in the # 3065-P adapter for the Prodigy P2 brake controller to the factory brake controller plug behind the dash. The harness will plug it into the factory plug after disconnecting it from the factory controller, and then taking the truck to a dealership to clear the fault code that will appear. I have included a link to a Tech Bulletin that explains what they do at the dealer to clear the fault code.
