You can take a quick measurement to find the required distance for bike racks to work with your spare tire. You'll measure from the center of your trailer hitch's hitch pin hole to the furthest edge of your spare tire. Using a straight object to mark this point makes the process easier and more accurate.

Any bike rack you look to purchase will need to have a "Distance from hitch pin hole to closest point" measurement listed in its detailed product specs of greater than the measurement you took to be useable. You'll also want to check the "Closest Point when Folded" measurement to check if you'll be able to fold the rack (if it's able) while installed on your hitch.

I've included a link to our help article about clearing your spare tire to help the process be a little clearer.

For the 2 inch hitch version of the Thule T2 Pro XTR, part # TH83JV, its closest point is 7 inches when installed, and 5 inches when folded up. According to my research, the standard tire size on a 2007 Toyota RAV4 is 8.5 inches, so you unfortunately won't be able to use this rack on your RAV4.

Instead, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR. This rack includes a hitch lock, and has curved wheel trays and adjustable frame clamps that fit a wide variety of bikes. At 20 pounds, it's also one of the lightest racks on the market, making installing and uninstalling the rack a breeze. The Destination Bike Rack can carry two bikes with max 48 inch wheel bases that weigh up to 35 pounds each.

The Destination Bike Rack's closest part is 9-1/4 inches when installed and 10 inches when folded up, handily clearing your spare.
