Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch For 2013 GMC 2500 with 6-1/2 Foot Bed and Industry Standard Rails
Question:
Bought a 2013 GMC 2500 HD Denali with 6.5’ bed and 5th wheel rails installed. Rails are stamped with Husky Products then in a separate area 12 KM 12. I’m looking for a 16K or 18K hitch. It doesn’t need to be Husky. Do you know what hitches will work with these installed rails? As far asI can tell these rails are p/n HT31852-686. It looks like you can intermix hitches because these rails may be standard/universal. Thanks

The Husky rails you mentioned, like # HT31852-686, are industry standard rails. These rails will fit Curt, Draw-Tite, Husky, Reese, Demco and others. Because you have a 6-1/2 foot bed in your 2013 GMC 2500, I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521. This slider has the round tubes for easy adjustment without binding and has the interlocking jaw for security and contact with the king pin to reduce jarring and chucking.
If you want the best hitch, then an autoslider like the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034 is the route I recommend. This hitch will allow you to stay in the cab of your truck and will automatically slide for best turning clearance. It saves the hassle of hitting the manual lever and pulling forward to lock the turning position into place. This is extremely nice in rainy weather when the last thing you want to do is get in and out of your truck to adjust your slider.
I've attached videos as well as an article to assist. You may also want to consider adding a 2nd 7-way trailer wiring connection to the bed of your truck for easy access using # C56000.
