How to Charge a 12-Volt Auxiliary Battery on an Enclosed Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello- I have a 2008 Ford Motor home f53 Thor/four winds hurricane v10. It does not currently have charging capabilities to charge my enclosed trailer battery while connected. What parts do I need to install and connect? I have wired a 7 way but it only has lights and brakes on it. I know I need a separate connection for the charge. Thank you

In order to charge the 12-volt auxiliary battery on your enclosed travel, I recommend taking a look at the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D. This will use the power created from the vehicle's alternator to provide a charge to the trailer battery.

The BCDC has a charging process that can charge and maintain most 12-volt auxiliary batteries. The DC power source can be from either the vehicle and/or a solar panel.

You can use the attached chart to determine the correct size of wire you will need for installation. I have also attached a basic wiring diagram of the battery charger for you as well.
