Thank you for your purchase of (among many other things!) a Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002.

Since the monitor component blinks we know that it has power so the thing to check is the connection at the reverse light circuit. If your vehicle has a 7-way then you will use the included round U.S. car connector to access the reverse light signal. Check that the contacts for that circuit, both on the vehicle plug and the Hopkins plug, are not bent or damaged; this would prevent solid electrical contact. You can refer to the linked article for help locating the contact that delivers the reverse light signal.

If you hardwired the camera to your reverse light circuit then make sure you also have a solid ground connection along with the reverse light circuit connection. Grounds should be made to bare metal whenever possible.
