Is Drilling Involved when Installing Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11434 on a 2010 Kia Forte

Question:

I have read the installation PDF and I do not see anything in the instructions concerning drilling holes for installation. There is a reference that says Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch so I assume there must be drilling of some kind. Please verify if this hitch is a bolt in without drilling.

The part in the instructions for the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11434, that you are referring to is a standard disclaimer found in the instructions for all Curt trailer hitches. The specific instructions for your 2011 Kia Forte are also included. There is no drilling or cutting involved in the installation of this hitch on your vehicle, but you will need to temporarily lower the exhaust.

If you plan to do some towing, the recommended ball mount is # 3594 and it should be used in the rise position only. The correct pin and clip is # PC2. For a ball you can use # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, use T-One Wiring Harness, # 118415. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation on another vehicle.
