Recommended Weight Distribution System for V-nose trailer and Short Pole Tongue A-Frame Trailer
Question:
I have read your many recommendations for people with a v-nose trailer or a straight tongue. I have both. I do not have the typical A-frame tongue that you see on V-noses, at least not until you get beyond the straight tongue. On top of that, the tongue is short, so the adapters that need to mount at 29 inches wont work. See my pics. The trailer is 6000 lb loaded, with a 650 lb tongue weight, 2 5/16 inch ball, 2 or 2.5 inch shank. What do you suggest for my setup? I need weight distribution and sway control. I would prefer a setup that will let me back up with it installed and is ok for electric brakes. I wanted the Equalizer, but now I dont see how I can with this ridiculous tongue. I am ready to buy!!!!

There is not an easy bolt on option for your short pole tongue into A-frame or V-nose trailer. You will need to do some frame customization to ensure a proper fit on each trailer. There is not a system we carry that will work without customization of your frames.
For the most economical option, I recommend the Pro Series Weight Distribution System # 49570 with Friction Sway Control # 83660. The friction bar of this system needs to be mounted 24 inches back from the center of the hitch pin ball and needs to simply be unclipped before backing up. The brackets will need to be custom mounted to work properly and provide the angle needed, but the chains will allow more custom adjustment than a bar and bracket system like the Equal-I-zer you mentioned.
For a better system that will still require customization of your trailer to make compatible, I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BXW1006. This system will not require the separate friction bar and will not require any disconnection to back up , but the frame will still need to be customized on each trailer to work with this system. You will also want the hitch ball # 19286.
