Trailer Running Lights Not Working when Connected to a 2006 Nissan Frontier

Question:

I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier. I put new wiring harness on old boat trailer. I have brake and turn signal lights but no running lights and side marker lights. I replaced the plug in 4 way connector at the rear of the vehicle on truck side, your item # 118263, but still no running lights. I had the tow package put on the truck when I bought it new. Can the relays go bad in the kick panel of the truck on the passenger side? I have not removed the panel to check to see if it is even installed but I am guessing that it was when I had the tow package put on years ago. I checked trailer tow fuse and it looks ok but will replace it when I can get to parts store and but a 10 amp plug in type fuse. Any suggestions or ideas? Thank you.

The relays for the trailer wiring on your 2006 Nissan Frontier can indeed go bad. On some Nissan vehicles there is another relay that is often needed so it is possible that it is missing or that one went bad. It is one of the blue relays included in the Curt Relay Kit # C59000.

The easiest way to test for a bad relay is to use a known good one in its place. I have included a link below on troubleshooting wiring as well that will also help in testing to find the problem.
