Recommended Trailer Hitch and Equipment Needed for a Bike rack and Towing with a 2018 Kia Sorento
Question:
I have a new 2018 Kia Sorento 3.3 six I want to attach my Yakima bike rack to a hitch that also could be used to tow lite weight trailer if needed. What would you suggest and if I buy your equipment where would I get it installed.

For your 2018 Kia Sorento I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75908. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening that can accommodate a wide variety of accessories. It has a max Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) of 5,000 lbs and a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 500 lbs but since your Sorento has a GTW range of 2,000 - 3,500 lbs depending on the model, you will want to check your owner's manual to see what your weight capacities will be. A sample installation video has been attached for you to reference.
To tow with your Sorento you will also need a ball mount, hitch ball, and vehicle wiring.
A great option for a ball mount and hitch ball is the Curt # C45036. This comes with a ball mount that has a 2 inch Drop, a 2 inch diameter hitch ball, and a hitch pin and clip. You will want to check out the attached Ball Mount Article to make sure that this is the right option for your towing needs though.
If your Sorento is equipped with the tow package then you will want to use the Curt T-Connector # C56332, but if it did not come with the tow package you will want to use the T-One # 118583 instead. I have attached installation videos of both of these on 2017 Sorentos for you to reference.
When it comes to getting it installed any shop should be able to easily install all of the needed equipment so we recommend going to someone that you trust or shop around for a good deal if you do not have a preferred shop.
