Parts Needed to Safely Flat Tow 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Behind 2017 Winnebago View Motorhome

I have a 2017 Winnebago View and a new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek with a manual transmission. What do I need to flat tow this vehicle? I have a Blue OX - Alpha tow bar that I used with our older Honda.

Flat towing your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek behind your Winnebago View motorhome requires essentially the same items you used for towing your older Honda vehicle. Those basic components for flat towing include a tow bar, such as your existing Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380, base plates and a braking system for the toad, safety cables, a high/low hitch adapter, and a wiring or lighting kit of some type to keep the towed car visible. At this time we have no Blue Ox base plates fits for the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek but you can still continue to use your Blue Ox Alpha tow bar by using adapter kit # BX88185 that will let it work with Roadmaster EZ5 base plate kit # RM-52927-5.
For a lighting or wiring kit for the Crosstrek you can refer to the linked page to see all options. These include diode kits like # RM-154, bulb-and-socket kits like # RM-155 as well as simple plug-in magnetic lights like # TL21RK which are inexpensive and easy to use.
For a braking system there is nothing better or easier than the Blue Ox Patriot wireless and portable braking system # BLU37TR. This will install using 12V outlet kit # RM-9332. An article on all such braking systems is linked for your review.
High/low hitch adapters allow the connected tow bar to remain level, which is important for best performance. Either end of the tow bar should not be more than 3-inches above or below dead-level. The linked article will help you choose the right one.
