Tekonsha Voyager Not Sending Power to the Trailer Brakes

Question:

Hi, By circumstance I have two new Voyager brake controllers, neither one works with my 2017 Ford E-450 RV. I have fished the factory wire out of the dash and connected it to the 3034P adapter. At the controller end, there is positive power, the stop switch output works, the black wire grounds to the blue wire. When I plug in the Voyagers, the green light comes on, the red will not. Maxing both the power wheel and the level wheel has no effect. The manual slide will not light the red light. depressing the brake pedal will not light the red light. The blue output to the brake is never hot. I have to tow my 5000 pound trailer 600 miles back to FL Please help. Gary 252-670-4221

The Adapter # 3034-P that you referenced is the correct adapter to connect the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 to your RV on a 2017 Ford E-450 Chassis. The part of your description that sounds like it is the problem is where you say the Black wire grounds into the Blue wire - this should not be the case and is most likely your issue. The Black, White, Blue, and Red wires from the Voyager should be connected to the following functions:

Black - Battery for Power (20 Amp Circuit Breaker # PK54520 installed in-line with it)
White - Ground
Blue - Run to the Brake Controller Pin on 7-Way (see attached picture)
Red - COLD Side of the Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)

If your Black and Blue wires are run together then that would be why the controller is not sending power back to the 7-Way. Try to trace the Blue wire to see where it is connected to. If it goes to the battery then you will want to check your 7-Way to see if there are any wires connected to the pin in the 5 O'clock position. If there are then you will want to trace that towards the cab. Sometimes the brake controller wiring is incomplete and needs some extra wire to finish the circuit.

If you have to add wiring then you can use 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 to complete the circuit. You might need to run it all the way to your brake controller.

Let me know if that doesn't fix your problem and I can help you troubleshoot further.
