Can a Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover be Used While Towing a Gooseneck Trailer w/2017 Toyota Tundra 6.5' Bed

Question:

I have a 2017 Toyota tundra double cab not crew I put a Extang tri-fold Hard Tonneau Cover - Folding - Aluminum cover on the bed. My question is: Will a gooseneck horse trailer be able to be used with the trifold bed cover installed but folded up position? This is the hitch I am looking at: Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs Item # 9465-36. Also from watching your video I understand that the truck bed does NOT have to be unmounted from the frame to install the hitch. Thnk you for info.

I called my contact at Draw-Tite and they informed me that the distance from the center of the hitch ball on the Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation Kit part # 9465-36 to the front of the bed on your 2017 Toyota Tundra with the 6-1/2' bed is 36".

Therefore, as long as the folding portion of either the Extang Trifecta 2.0 Soft Tonneau Cover part # EX92465 or the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 Hard Tonneau Cover part # EX83465 closest to the cab does not extend toward the tailgate from the inside edge of the bed rail more than 34", you will be able to haul your gooseneck trailer with either tonneau cover installed. If you do not have at least 34" then you can use the Offset Ball for Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Trailer Hitches part # 19308 to gain another 5" of clearance.

In regards to the instillation of the Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck, you will not need to remove the truck bed for installation. You can see how this hitch is installed by viewing the installation video which I have attached for you below.
