Easy to Install Tow Bar Wiring Kit Recommendation for 2015 Chevy Equinox

Question:

I asked a ?, yesterday on custom tow wiring. 2015 Equinox. Have supplemental braking unit in car. Do U have a tow daddy custom wiring that works with my vehicle? Two appear to be the right plugs, but not stated and are on chev. products. I know I do not want to mess with the brake relay kit. I see you carry a Blue-ox wiring kit. One that fits my vehicle, I take, U do not handle. Can you answer if the Blue-ox bx88315, which looks identical to your hm56108, will also have to have a brake relay installed? Can not get definite answer. Understand if U do not know. Thank You for your info so far.

The part # HM56108 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2015 Chevy Equinox and would install easily and be very reliable. I attached a install video for this in a 2015 Equinox just like yours.

Because your Chevrolet Equinox has a combined lighting system - wherein the brake signals and the turn signals are carried on a single wire - a brake light relay ( # RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

We do not have a Trailermate tow bar lighting solution for your vehicle. But even if we did it would still require the brake relay since you are using supplemental braking. The same would be true for the Blue Ox kit you referenced that we do not carry. The only way around using the brake relay that you have would be if you disconnected the vehicle battery while you are flat towing. That would prevent the stop lights from activating when your supplemental braking system applies the vehicle brakes.
