Fairing for a Rhino Rack Vortex Roof Rack on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf VII 5-Door Wagon

Question:

Hi, I purchased Rhino Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack - 2015 Volkswagen Golf. I followed the instruction included with the roof rack. As per the instructions the bar does not line up with the factory hole for roof racks and I wanted to confirm this. My question is regarding a faring. With the roof rack placed according to the instructions, it is fairly behind the moon roof, would adding a faring affect the moon roof or interfere with it?

For installation, the Rhino Rack ROC25, part # RR23QR, is not intended to line up with the factory roof rack holes during install. It will install exactly as you have it right now in your picture.

I can't recommend opening the moon roof while having a roof rack installed, as there is a chance that the rack will contact the glass as it opens or the noise and wind will change direction because of the crossbar and affect the passengers or cargo in the vehicle.

Generally, we don't recommend a fairing for aero bars as it can disrupt the design of the bar and cause it to be noisier than you'd want. If you do want a fairing for looks, I recommend the Rhino Rack RF3, part # RRRF3 . This fairing will size to your bar specifically and give you the best fit for your rack.

Adding a fairing will also impact the operation of the moon roof because of where the fairing would sit when attached to the roof rack.
