Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Honda CRV behind a Class C Motorhome
Question:
We have been towing our car using a tow dolly and wed like to switch to flat towing this year. We are looking at buying a used 2014 Honda CRV-AWD to flat tow. I am totally overwhelmed as to what we need and what is best to use Roadmaster vs Blue Ox. Also, since I know neither me nor my husband would be able to install the baseplate ourselves do most car or RV dealers have people who can do this? Thanks!

To flat tow your 2014 Honda CR-V you'll need a tow bar, base plates, wiring, supplemental braking, and likely a high-low adapter. You'll also want to consult your owner's manual to make sure your vehicle is able to be flat towed without damaging it. From my research the CR-V will be just fine with all 4 wheels down.
The Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 is a great option to tow your Honda. It has a large hookup raidus and self-aligns so hooking up is easier and smoother. It connects right up to the EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-4 that is confirmed to fit your CR-V. Then use # RM-643 for safety cables.
To power the Honda's lights I suggest the diode kit # RM-15267. This will use the vehicle's tail lights by connecting to the Class C's and includes the cord to go between the two. You'll need to pull fuses in order to tow the CR-V. To make this easier we have Fusemaster Fuse Bypasses. If the Honda's owner's manual states to pull the # 19 ACC radio fuse, use # RM76511. If it says to pull the # 19 ACC radio fuse and the # 20 ACC key lock fuse, use # RM76512.
For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems.
Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.
In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful. All of the installation should be fairly standard for an experienced mechanic. I recommend calling around locally to find someone to perform the install for you.
