Can Demco Capture Plates Replace Stock Plates When Not Using a Rota-Flex Pin Box
Question:
Will these plates work as suitable replacements for the stock plates when NOT using a rotoflex pin box? We have a hijacker 13k auto slide and have broken at set of capture plates, these appear to be heavier built than the stock ones.

Expert Reply:
I checked with the manufacturer, who said that these particular locking plates could work with a standard OEM pin box. They are longer and taller than the locking plates that come with a standard hitch and are designed specifically for the Trailair Flex Air and Rota Flex pin boxes, but they can also fit a standard OEM pin box.
However, if you have another type of cushioned or Air Ride pin box, then you will need capture plates specific to that pin box.
If you have one of these alternate, non-OEM pin boxes and would like to send me the model number, I'd be happy to make a recommendation for you. Usually the pin box information is located on a sticker or plate, but if it's not available, I've included a link to an article showing how to determine which pin box model you have.
