4 Bike Platform Rack Recommendation for Carrying Bike with 14 inch Diameter Wheel
Question:
I have a Volvo XC90 with a 2inch hitch installed and am looking for a rack that can accommodate at least 4 bikes ranging from full suspension mtn, road to small childrens 14inch wheels. The Kaut and NV 2.0 and Thule T2 Pro indicate a 20inch wheel min but otherwise seem like they fit the bill. Would a smaller bike fit on those?

I recommend the Saris Freedom SuperClamp 4 Bike Platform Rack, part # SA4026F. I called my contact at Saris and they said the 14-inch wheel diameter you mentioned should be no problem. This carrier includes a hitch lock and a steel cable lock to secure the bikes to the carrier. The carrier tilts away from the vehicle even when the bikes are loaded for easy rear cargo access. This carrier also has a 2-inch rise in the shank for more ground clearance. The weight capacity for this carrier is 60-lbs per bike in the inner positions and 35-lbs per bike in the outer positions.
