Recommend Roof Rack to Mount an Older Thule Weekender Roof Cargo Box On a 2011 Mazda 3 - 5 Door

Hello there, I am in need of a rack system for my car. It is a 2011 Mazda 3 5 door. I like the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack with APX Mounting System Code 59833. I like the style of it and the value of having everything included. I will be using this off and on but i need to know if this rack system will work with an older 4-5 years Thule weekender cargo box. My only concern is that the Rola load bars are wider and thicker then most load bars and im unsure if the cargo box will fit and lock onto them with its feet design. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I do have a solution for you to carry your Thule Weeekender roof cargo box on the roof of your 2011 Mazda 3, 5 door, but the Rola 59833 is not compatible. The reason why it will not work is because the older model Thule roof cargo boxes are designed to work with square Thule load bars. You are correct, the Rola load bars are too wide to work with cargo box mounting feet.
You will need to use the Thule Roof Rack, part # TH460R, # TH712200, # THKIT3069, which features the square load bars.
You will want to check your vehicles owners manual for the roof load carrying capacity of your Mazda 3 as you will not want to exceed it.
