Recommendation to Transport Kids Motorcycle with 2017 Ford C-Max

Question:

I am looking for a hitch we can get to haul a kids electric motorcycle. It is 56x24.5x36 and weighs 106lbs . We are planning to buy the ford c-max energi 2017 and Im not sure that we can put the 2inch hitch on. I was told we can get the 1 1/4 though.

There are two available trailer hitches that are confirmed to fit the 2017 Ford C-Max. Both options, the Curt Class I # 24896 and the Curt Class II # C12092, will provide a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I recommend going with the Class II # C12092 as this will offer higher tongue and towing weight capacities. I also recommend checking the weight capacities on the vehicle itself as listed in the owner's manual or by asking a local dealer.

Please note that Curt requires that all non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo carriers be supported with stabilizing straps like # 18050. I have included a video demonstration on this product so you can see how it works.

We do not currently have a hitch-mounted motorcycle carrier available that will be compatible with a 1-1/4 inch receiver hitch. The best option for transporting your 106 pound electric motorcycle will be to pull it behind your vehicle with a small utility trailer like the Detail K2 # K2MMT5X7. If you choose to go this route, you will also need to install a trailer wiring harness on your vehicle with the Tekonsha Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This is a hardwire kit that you can use to install a 4-Way connector on your C-Max in order to power a trailer's rear signal lights.

You will also need a ball mount like the Curt # C45521 along with a 2 inch Hitch Ball # A-82.

I have attached video demonstrations on the products mentioned along with a couple of articles on towing a trailer that you might find helpful.
