Will an Error Code Need to be Cleared by the Dealer When Installing Aftermarket Brake Controller

Question:

Ive read that if you get a Ford OEM trailer brake controller installed that you have to then take it to the dealer to get the computer flashed to recognize the controller. Is this also true of the Tenkosha controller that you carry? Or does the trucks computer automatically recognize the controller?

When installing an a Tekonsha Brake Controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, you will need to use the Plug-In Wiring Harness Adapter, # 22292, on your 2016 Ford F-150.

Once the brake controller has been installed, the attached article will explain what procedures you will need to follow to have the error code removed that will appear with the installation of the aftermarket brake controller. The error code will have to be cleared at the dealer.
