Universal fifth wheel rail kits like the Curt part # C16200 do require drilling into the frame and bed of the truck to install.
A custom install kit designed specifically for your 2012 Ram 1500 like the Reese part # RP50142-58 will be a better option. No frame drilling is required at all. You'd only need to drill through the bed of the truck.
