Increasing Distance Between Trailer Axle and Trailer Frame

Question:

I am looking for something that will help me gain about an inch or two between the axle and the frame. Currently my trailer is sitting about 1 3/4 to 2 inch gap between the axle and the frame. I am hitting the ubolt on the frame with almost every bump and have now created a big indentation on the frame rail from where it hits. I am breaking the upright bars between the frame and the 1 foot up rail. I use this trailer a lot and cant take off the hanger brackets. I was just gonna flip the axle to the bottom of the leaf spring instead of in between. But no tsure if that is a good idea or if raising the equalizer height will give me what i am looking for.

The ideal solution to get more distance between your axle and the trailer frame is to use an over/under conversion kit. This will allow you to move the axle below the leaf springs giving you the additional height you are looking for.

There are 2 over under conversion kits (1 kit needed per axle):

# K71-384-00 is used for 2-3/8 inch diameter round axles
# K71-385-00 is used for 3 inch diameter round axles

If your axle is a different size then the solution is to replace all the suspension hangers on the trailer. Changing just the equalizers will not work and can lead to other problems. So you will keep the equalizers and get taller hangers. I have included a link to the hanger main page for you.
