Troubleshooting Hubs That Will Not Rotate After Wheel Installation  

Question:

Hello Ive replaced the brakes, seal, bearing basically everything. I checked the ensure everything spins freely without any wiggling but remains tightened. It all spins but when I place the wheels on and get then tighten its like the brakes are activated. Can you please help me?

It sounds like you have proper fit of your hubs on your spindles and that when you rotate the drum alone (without the wheel mounted) everything seems okay, but when you bolt the wheel on to the hub you have binding somewhere.

The two potential causes are that the tires are rubbing on some part of the trailer, such as a leaf spring or inside wheel well. Any given hub will be compatible with a specific range of wheel diameters. For example, hub # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K works with wheel diameters from 12-inch up to 17-1/2-inch.

The other possibility is that if you have self-adjusting brakes and were rotating the wheel backwards, this could cause the self-adjust feature to grip the drums.
