Changing a 7-Way to a 7-Way and 4-Pole Connector on a 2014 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I have a 2014 Tacoma with a factory installed 7-pin plug. My problem is that my camper is wired to use the 7-pin plug. Because I also tow a boat or utility trailer, I need to also have 4- pin flat plug. Do you have a plug in product that will give me both? Ideally, Id like an adaptor that plugs into the installed 7-pin plug and gives me a 7- pin and a 4-pin. What do you have or recommend? Thanks

I do have a solution for you, but there are no adapters that plug into a 7-Way and then have 7-Way and 4-Pole connector plugs.
You can do 1 of 2 things. You can either use an adapter like the Hopkins # HM47065 or you can change out the 7-Way connector on your 2014 Toyota Tacoma for the Hopkins # HM48470 which will give you both the 7-Way and 4-Pole connectors.
I recommend going with the 2nd choice (part # HM48470) since it is a permanent solution that will accommodate both trailers and it will not require you to keep track of an adapter for when you need it.
When replacing it make sure to pay careful attention to what position each wire is in so you can wire it correctly. If you go to do the install and cannot remember which wire goes to which function you can use a Circuit Tester # PTW2992 to find out the functions and the attached picture for which pin to wire them to.
