Will Curt Trailer Hitch # C15300 Fit a 1997 Ford F-350 Without Removing the Spare Tire

Question:

Im interested in the curt magnum V trailer hitch part number referenced above for my 1997 F350 4x4 same or similar to the 94-96 bodystyle trucks, NOT the newer super duty trucks. I would like to know if this hitch can be used with the ford factory under bed spare tire carrier 235/85r16 spare. Thanks.

According to Curt, if you install trailer hitch # C15300 on your 1997 Ford F-350, the spare tire will need to be temporarily lowered for hitch installation, but it does not have to be removed. The hitch is designed to fit the larger 37-1/4 inch frames. While you do not have to remove the spare tire, it may need to be repositioned once the hitch is in place. I have included a link to the installation details for reference.

The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # BWBMHD30010 and you can use pin and clip # PC3. For a ball, you can use # A-90 (2 inch diameter) or # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter). If you need trailer wiring, you can use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118316. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation of this harness for you to view.
