Does Demco 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Fit Better than the Curt X5 Adapter

Question:

I purchased the Curt X5 adapter and was extremely disappointed. As it sat in the BandW Turnover ball the rails didnt really sit on the bed of the truck no bed liner. So there was slop and play between the X5 and the Turnover ball. Used it for about 300 miles and got rid of it. Question: I see that the Demco has an adjustment bolt on the top, is this so it can be torqued down similar to how the BandW Companion Slider is torqued down?

The Demco adapter # DM6140 does have that draw down bolt similar to the one found on the Companion to make it good and tight.

If your truck happens to be a certain year Ram, Toyota, or Ford truck then the exact problem you are describing is a known issue. There are actually several caveats surrounding the X5 adapter # 16310:

Will not work with any 2013 - 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 or 2014 - 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 trucks that have a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch installed.

Will not work with any 2007 - 2016 Toyota Tundra truck that has a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch installed.

Will not work with 2017 Ford F-250 or F-350 trucks that have a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch installed.
