Recommended Replacement Leaf Springs For Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I want to replace my 5th wheel springs, my axles are AL-KO T52, 5200 pound capicty. They are 4 leaf and I want to go to 5 leaf 6,000 pound rated spring. When you measure the spring is that measured with all the weight off the spring? Can you look up my current spring specs based on the model number above? I measured my springs with full weight on them at 26.5 inches, with the the trailer jacked up they measured 26 inches, from the best I can tell from AL-KO web page my spring is 25.25 inches. Im not sure which spring to get? hangers center to center = 29.5 inches axle spacing center to center = 33 inches equalizer bolt hole center to center width = 6.25 inches equalizer hieght = 2.5 inches

You do want to measure the springs with the weight off of them because they will flatten out with the weight added.

Over time, springs can flatten a bit and that is why you are getting the 26 inch measurement. Based on the measurements you provided, I recommend going with part # e34SR. This is a 5-leaf spring and is designed for 6,000-lb axles.

You also want to check the rest of your suspension to make sure everything is in good working order.

In order to find the right replacements you will need to measure the length - eye to eye - of one of your existing stacks. Make sure to jack up the trailer so weight is off the leaf springs when measuring. If you can tell me this length I will be happy to recommend a great replacement.
