Fit And Compatibility of Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers On 2007 Hitchhiker II Trailer

Question:

I have a 2007 Hitchhiker II 32.5 FK SBG LS, label for trailer particulars included in pictures. I would like to install the LC279688 but am uncertain it will work. Since I have 7000lb axles, problem is the kit has a 7 1/2 inch spacing where as my current equalizer has 5 1/2 spacing where shackles attach. If I read things right, only the kit for 6000 and below axles have the 5 1/2 inch spacing. Looks like the Dexter kits have similar measurements. Also, my equalizer is mounted in top hole picture included in which the LC279688 kit appears to have extra plates on side which would probably prevent fitment. Probably could cut the bottom off the middle hanger, but dont really want to do that. Fact still remains of the 7 1/2 inch spacing. From middle of top hole to bottom of hanger is 4. Also, please note that the spring mounts are also mounted in the top hole. Will I be able to use one of the Flex equalizers or do I have to do a lot of cutting and welding to make them work. Thanks in advance for your time

Thanks for the pictures. The Lippert Components Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers - Double Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 6K to 8K # LC279688 are a really nice option to increase the comfort of your trailer's ride. It is really nice that your trailer has the adjustable height hangers and that will actually work to your advantage in this case. You can use the adjustability to account for the extra spacing of the equalizer and allow you to use the different positions to achieve the spacing differences. The equalizer can be moved down to give you clearance and you may or may not choose to adjust the other hanger positions for your springs. Different shackle straps can be used if desired, but I don't believe you will need to change them for this application and you definitely don't need to do any cutting.
