Replacement Bearings and Seal for Dexter Hub 8-147

Question:

Customer Service, my name is Leo and I picked up an old Dexter axle that previouos owner cut the elec-wire to the elec-brakes. Both hubs are rubbing and grease is contaminated with watertan/lt grey color. Need to replace the bearinigs, seals, probably the races and anyting else you suggest. a HUB INFO... a1- Hub1 Outter Face: Dexter 8-147, 7 * CFD a2- Hub2 Outter Face: Dexter 8-147, No2 / 494 a3- Hub1and2 Inner Face: 8A-2092 8A-2092 b WHEEL RIM b1- Inner Face: U.S. Patent # D219733 b2- 13inch x 4.5inch w/4-bolt on 9.44 pattern c AXLE c1- Diameter? Going on OD 7-7/8 inches???....so....not sure if thats how you measure round axle. U-bolt that it takes is 2-1/2ID so Im guessing its at least a 3500 lb rated axle?!!! Need to order a Bearing Kit with the correctinch P/Ns so need your help in matching things up. Will attach a pic. Thanks,

The inner bearings should be # LM48548 (1.375 inch inner diameter), outer bearing should be # L44649 (1.06 inch inner diameter) and the grease seal should be # 58846. I would recommend you pull your bearings out to verify that but that SHOULD be what you need.

Can you tell me what size axle this same hub is on. I have a old gooseneck trailer with these same axles on it and didn't know weight wise. Some website that I came across said 7k per a le but they don't seem that big. And since I'm will to upgrade hubs I didn't know if there is a new hub I could upgrade to get a 8x6.5 or so.ething similar.

@Brian We do not have the capacity listed specifically in our records but I can tell you that the Dexter 8-147 hub is for a 3,500 lb axle as are the bearings mentioned above so it definitely SHOULD be a 3,500 lb axle.

@JesseM so is there a hub that will replace the 8-147 that will give me 8x6.5 bolt pattern

@Brian no, there is not. There would only be 5 or 6 lug hubs available for the 3,500 lb axles.
