Compatibility of Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers LC145545 on 5,400 Pound Trailer Axle
Question:
I have two questions about the equa-flex suspension upgrade. I have a 2015 sabre silhouette. I measured the current equalizer and the dimensions would suggest I need the LC145545. However my axles are 5400#. That part number is for 6k to 8k axles. Is this still the part that I need? Also if I install these as well as the leafs to the lower hanger hole how much lift of the camper can I expect? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 referenced in your question will work just fine with your 5,400 pound axles since as you mentioned, the dimensions on your existing equalizers are a match. There will be no compatibility issues with this slightly higher rated kit. You will need a Wet Equalizer Bolt with Locknut and Grease Zerk # 126B2.
These rubberized equalizers are designed to absorb road shock and help reduce chucking for a smooth ride. They are not necessarily designed to provide any kind of lift to the trailer. Any lift you may get from installing these will be very minimal.
To lift your trailer a better option will be to replace your hangers with longer ones. I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of hangers that you can look through.
