Are Longer Axles Available For Single Axle Pontoon Boat Trailer  

Question:

I have a single axle scissor type trailer for my 1994 20foot sylvan windsong. I am nervous about taking this on a long trip on this trailer. Are there axle wheel extensions that I can get, or should I just look for a bunk style, wider wheelbase trailer? Why not make a wide wheelbase trailer with rollers instead of boards to make the launch and recover operations easier?

I did some research on your 1994 Sylvan Pontoon boat and found that the beam is 8-ft. The pontoon boat trailers I was able to find information on said the distance between the center of the bunks for a boat with an 8-ft beam are spaced 72 inches apart. I have attached a photo that shows how the bunks are placed under the pontoons. If your trailer frame is wide enough to be able to place the bunks with those dimensions then you would not need to try and extend the axles.

You may want to consider using a Timbren axle-less system. These attach directly to the trailer frame so the width is not an issue. I have attached a link to our product page for the axle-less systems we offer. You can select a system for trailers with axles up to 7,000-lb capacity like part # TASR7KS01. This comes with the brake flange installed.

We also have roller bunks you can use on your trailer. I have attached a link to our product page for the roller bunks we offer. For a 5-ft roller bunk I recommend part # DL21741. The mounting brackets that work with these rollers are part # DL21742.

For 4-ft rollers I recommend # DL21754. The brackets you can use with these rollers is part # DL21762.

To secure the brackets to your trailer frame you can use the U-bolt kit # CE15252A.
