2017 Ford F150 Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Towing 7,500 lb Trailer
Question:
I have a 2017 Ford F150 with what appears to be a Class lll trailer hitch I dont see any markings but it is rated for 5,000# and 500 TW. I want to pull an RV with maximum weight of 7,500# and TW of 700. Looking for a Class IV to replace my factory hitch without the need for weight distribution. Any suggestions? Do you think a trailer of this size will require or would you recommend weight distribution with an F150 pulling it? Does Ford supply a Class IV as an option? I have the Max Tow Package and I mistakenly thought it was part of the deal.

For your 2017 Ford F-150 you will need to upgrade to a heavier duty hitch like the Curt part # C26HR which has a 10k capacity and is designed to fit versions of your truck that have the factory hitch like yours. Check out the install video I attached as well.
A weight distribution system would be a great option as you will be well into the towing capacity of your truck. For a tongue weight of 700 lbs the Strait Line part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and has only sway control that works to fight sway before it starts.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
