When is a Weight Distribution System Recommended
Question:
Do you need weight distrabution bars for a 4900 lbs travel trailer when the truck is rated for 7700 lbs.
asked by: Jack H
Expert Reply:
We recommend using a weight distribution system whenever the trailer's weight is at least 50 percent of the tow vehicle's weight.
You'll need to find your loaded trailer's tongue weight to choose the correct system. You'll also need to factor in how much weight you have stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. Use this total number to select a system based on the tongue weight it's rated for. You want the total you came up with to land somewhere in the middle of the system's range.
For example, the Equal-I-zer # EQ37100ET is rated from 600 to 1,000 pounds of tongue weight.
