Wiring Adapter Needed to Install Hopkins Brake Controller HM47294 in 2006 Silverado

Question:

Ive only used time delayed brake controllers do all proportional brake controllers apply braking automatically on downhill grades? I am most interested in the Hopkins Agility.

Proportional brake controllers do not automatically activate trailer brakes on downhill grades. The same applies for time-delay types.

A proportional brake controller like the excellent Prodigy units, P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195, will still require you to apply the Silverado's brake pedal to activate it but at that point the controller's internal accelerometer will sense the rate of deceleration in the tow vehicle and send an equivalent signal to the trailer brakes so that the trailer slows at a comparable (or proportional) rate.

The Hopkins proportional controller # HM47294 works in this manner but thanks to its modular design you can install the actual sensor/controller unit down near the driver-side kick panel while keeping just the display and override control in a convenient location. You can see an installation in a Silverado by clicking on the included video link. For your truck you will use wiring adapter # HM47795 to install the controller.
