To use the factory plug ins of your 2004 Ford F-150 found behind the tail lights of your truck, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56005. This will give you a 4-way flat connector at the front of your truck.

For the rest of your flat towing system, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 495-3A which I suggest installing using Loctite Threadlocker # LT37420.

For your tow bar, I recommend the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain 10K # RM-422 which is a confirmed fit with these base plates. For safety and security, I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 and safety cables like # RM-653.

For a braking system I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR. This system is an easy install and simply sits on the floor board of your truck up against the driver's seat. It has an arm that connects to your brake pedal and simply connects to 12V power for function. For a braking system to work correctly with your vehicle, the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 is also required.

The final thing you need is a high low adapter. This will be based on measurements you need to take, so I have attached an article as well as the link to your options for your convenience.
